If you haven't made plans for the weekend yet, there are two great events I want you to know about:
Join us Saturday as we install our new reading garden in the front of the school. James John parent, Gigi Fogarty applied for (and won) a $2.500.00 Building Healthy Communities Grant from The Home Depot Foundation. We will be laying pavers and planting, creating a more welcoming space for students to hang out and read during nice days. This will also be a great spot for students to wait for parent pick up.
Bring a shovel, rake, and your green thumb. Fun starts at 9:30 this Saturday Morning.
This Sunday, The University of Portland is having their 17th Annual Reading Fair in The Chiles Center from 11 - 3:30.
"Every student will receive a free, new book of their choice for attending."
"The fair’s theme, “Reading Around the World,” is designed to be a multicultural approach to literacy that will engage students from pre-kindergarten to middle school. Events throughout the day include arts, crafts and games that focus on reading as well as an obstacle course and storytelling performances."
