We Are Respectful

We are working on being Respectful Kindergarteners.  Which, as you know can be a really tough job.  Luckily our good friend Ms. Marissa from University of Portland has made another wonderful poster to help remember what it looks like to be Respectful.

We Are Reading Even Mo Books Next Week!

If your Kindergartner tries to drag you to the library this weekend to get a Mo Willems book, it is totally my fault.  We had a great time reading a ton of his books this last week.  Next week we are reading all of the Elephant & Piggie and Pigeon books that we could find.

Our Very Friendly Caterpillar

This week, since we have been reading a lot of Eric Carle books, we decided to make a Very Big Caterpillar of our own.

Ms. Marissa traced out the segments of the caterpillar and we painted them.

Then we cut them out and glue them together.
Our Very Friendly Caterpillar now greets everyone outside our door!

All Aboard The Reading Train

Today we decided to try reading our small books in a different way.
We decided to form a Reading Train.  As you can see everyone had their own book.

We read through our small books and then when the train whistle blew we handed our book to the person in front of us.  (The Engine gave his book to the caboose).

It was the quietest reading time that we have had this year.

Today we celebrated Raven.  Her birthday was a couple weeks ago- but she was sick.  So today we got to learn all about- and celebrate everything Raven.

Thank you Cameron, for coming in and reading an oldie but a goodie Blueberries for Sal.

What We Are Reading Next Week:

Here are a few of the books we will be reading next week.  I want to apologize in advance to all the boys in our classroom for all of the "Little Princess" Stories.  These books tackle themes that are very common to five and six year olds.

Happy Birthday Simone & Reese!

We are celebrating our class birthdays this year through books!  Yesterday was Reese & Simone's Birthday.  Their mom brought in the girls' favorite books, read them to our class and now these very special books are part of our classroom library!  Thank you Reese & Simone!

T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K

This afternoon we created (and then put together) a puzzle that showed our Monthly Focus.
Everyone worked together to make something really cool that none of us could have done on our own.
We had to use a lot of Teamwork, which is great, since that is our focus for September.
