We finished our planet reports.  We just finished our solar system posters and are now making paper mâché models of the planets that we have been studying.  We were able to get some huge balloons, and a great deal, from the nice people at the Lippman Company.

Celebrity Guest Read Alouder Today: Colin Meloy

Colin Meloy was kind enough to stop by our room today to read from his book Wildwood.  Currently, he is in the middle of writing the second book of Wildwood Chronicles.
It was great having a local author (who we've been reading) come in and read a chapter to us.

Planet Research

Yesterday we started writing our research papers on our planets.  We have learned about finding good sources and how to summarize.  Your 3rd Grader has read several books on their planet, worked with iPad apps that show their planet's orbit and have even "tweeted" facts about their planet.  As you can see from some of the pictures - they now have a lot to write about.
