Next week we will be reading the colorful world of Eric Carle.  These books teach concepts in fun and playful ways using repetitive phrases and amazing illustrations- which makes them great for Kindergarten!

T-E-A-M-W-O-R-K

This afternoon we created (and then put together) a puzzle that showed our Monthly Focus.
Everyone worked together to make something really cool that none of us could have done on our own.
We had to use a lot of Teamwork, which is great, since that is our focus for September.

We Are Safe

This week we have been talking a lot about our very first and most important school rule: Safety.
Our wonderful University of Portland Field Experience Student Ms. Marissa  created this great poster for us yesterday.

Phys. Ed. Fun!

We had a great time yesterday getting our heart rates up with Ms Schwartoph, our PE teacher.

Our Counselor Ms. Nahurski Stopped By Today

It has been an emotional first couple of weeks here in Kindergarten.  Good thing we have a wonderful Guidance Counselor here at James John to help us with our feelings.

Ms. Nahurski came and read a book that reminded us that we need to be kind to others.

School starts at 10:00.  Buses will be running two hours late as well.

What We Are Reading This Week

We made it through most of our "starting Kindergarten Books"this week.  Since Kindergarten is all about learning how to make and keep friends - next week we will be reading several books on friendship.  We will also be reading some books that deal with number and number order as part of our math unit.
